“Volatile essences have healed people since the dawn of time…” - Rene-Maurice Gattefosse
How Might Aromatherapy Help?
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils derived from plants, flowers and herbs to treat a wide variety of emotional and physical conditions. The oils are inhaled and in the case of massage taken into the bloodstream via the pores of the skin. The effect can be invigorating or relaxing depending on the style of massage used and the oils chosen. All oils are specially selected and then blended by myself to suit your requirements. I do not use ‘ready blended’ oils.
Aromatherapy treatments can help many conditions but are particularly beneficial for the following:
Stress Relief, promoting better overall health
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
For Stimulating the Immune System, resulting in fewer colds and flu
Problems Associated with Menstruation and the Menopause
High/Low Blood Pressure
The Overall Condition of the Skin, including conditions like eczema, fluid retention, dry skin, poor
circulation and cellulite
Anxiety and Depression
Headaches and Migraines
Muscular Aches and Pains
The History of Aromatherapy
It was not until the 1920’s that the term Aromatherapy was first coined to describe the use of essential oils for promoting health and well-being. However, like massage, essential oils have been used in healing for over five thousand years. The Egyptians burned wood, herbs and spices as incense in honour of their gods, and the Egyptian women would rub scented oils into their skin after bathing to alleviate dry skin.
Restoring Balance and Booking an Appointment
I myself believe that plant medicine and massage have more of a place today than ever to counter the effects of our modern way of life. As a Holistic Therapist - and unlike conventional treatment - I take into account the whole person rather than just focusing on the particular symptoms. I attempt to restore balance to the body which in turn helps the whole body to heal itself naturally. It is important for our health and well-being to take time out from our busy lifestyles to relax, unwind and regenerate so why not just make an appointment for no other reason than to have this time and enjoy a bit of pampering. My treatments work alongside allopathic medicine, counselling and other complementary therapies.
